About Therapy

Therapy can offer you a safe and confidential space to talk about your feelings, thoughts and concerns with a qualified professional. If you have a specific issue you want to explore and work through, or you want to feel empowered or perhaps you are interested in looking at your problems from a different perspective, then therapy can help.


Initial Consultation

In your first session, we will go through the information you need to know before commencing therapy; you will have the opportunity to understand more about my approach to therapy, the structure of sessions/costings etc., and we can also address any questions you may have about starting therapy.

The initial assessment is also an opportunity for us to discuss your situation and background in more detail and to talk a little about your hopes and expectations and how therapy will work. More importantly, it will provide an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to feel more at ease with me before deciding on whether you would like to work with me. I will also be able to get a better sense of what you are looking for from therapy and, in doing so, can ensure that I am the right person to support you.

The cost of an initial consultation will be £25.00 and typically lasts approximately 50-60 minutes.

Regular Therapy Sessions

If you choose to continue with therapy sessions, then we will usually arrange to meet at the same time each week (or as agreed in the initial consultation). Therapy is most likely to be successful if it can take place regularly. Although there are some exceptions to this, it is worth considering that if you are unable to commit to regular appointments, this may not be the best time to begin therapy.


As it is not always possible to predict how many sessions will be needed therapy is offered on an open-ended basis, which means that it can be long or short term depending on your needs. We will, however, make an initial contract for a certain number of sessions and I will regularly carry out reviews with you.


During sessions, we are likely to talk about:

  • your thoughts, feelings, behaviour and general mood

  • current events, situations or relationships that may be impacting on your wellbeing

  • historical or key events in your life including those in your childhood

  • patterns of behaviour that you may have noticed and wish to address

  • issues that may have arisen in previous sessions


I feel it important that you are in control of what is/isn't discussed and as such, I will never make you talk about anything that you are not ready to share.
